Roadburn Campsite 2024 | Six live shows, dj sets and live radio broadcast at Roadburn Campsite

This year, the Roadburn campsite is going all out with six live shows and various DJ sets. Every day, we start early morning with local heroes behind the turntables, and before the main Roadburn program starts, two bands will perform at Spoorpark.

On Friday, we present the post-punk pride of Tilburg, Docile Bodies, and the Tilburg stoners from ENMA. On Saturday, the darkwaveduo Vonder and the indie post-rockers of Dead Duck will take the stage. On Sunday we will be treated to the beautiful layered post-rock of Thistle Sifter and after that we go all out with some in your face punk/hardrock by The Ax Effect. The live program is musically supported by the DJs of Goolse Groeve and Le INIT.

The program at Spoorpark is part of Offroad, the free supplementary program of Roadburn. Unable to make it to the campsite? Tune in daily via Omroep Tilburg or Lokale Omroep Goirle where the DJ-sets and bands will be live on air!

Bands Line Up

ENMA

ENMA offers a wide array of heaviness: from progressive metal riffs to plowing 90s grunge grooves, from introspective melancholia to fierce outbursts. For fans of Tool, Opeth, Alice in Chains and Katatonia. ENMA’s first album ‘Apathy Awakened’ was released in 2022. On the 9 songs they marry compositional complexity with socially engaged lyricism, without losing a raw edge.

Friday April 19 | 12.00 - 12.45

Docile Bodies

The Tilburg formation Docile Bodies plays melancholic, Scandinavian-sounding post-punk characterized by layered sounds and mesmerizing vocals. In early 2022, their debut EP ‘Arc’ was released through à La Carte Records, on which the quartet expands their sound with shimmering synths and atmospheric soundscapes. Proud to welcome this local post-punk pride to the Roadburn campsite!

Friday April 19 | 13.15 - 14.00

Vonder

Vonder is a dark wave music project formed by Ellenor Vora and Noire Antidote (Benjamin Sch), who both have the dark edges in their fingers when it comes to bringing a melancholic setting. The duo introduces their sound with their debut “Forlorn.” Painfully dejected & fervid lyrics delivered in a voice that penetrates the deepest core of your soul. Supplemented with echoing guitars and industrial elements that they were already very comfortable with in their own projects.

Saturday April 20 | 12.00 - 12.45

Dead Duck

Dead Duck is an unexpected blend of fathers and sons, who also happen to be cousins and uncles to each other. It’s almost impossible to explain how these family ties run, but thankfully, it’s all about the music. Dead Duck resonates like a scene from a film noir, with a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. You could say it’s a lovechild between Mogwai, Motorpsycho, Amenra, and Charles Bukowski. Let’s simply describe it as cinematic post-rock often veering into an explosion of melodic guitars and unleashed vocals. In early May, the band presents their new EP, Every Night, at MEZZ Breda. So this will be a sort of pre-party on the Roadburn campsite! See you there!

Saturday April 20 | 13.15 - 14.00

Thistle Sifter

Thistle Sifter is the ambient instrumental post-rock project by English musician Pete Barnes (Utrecht, NL). New album Circles is the follow-up to 2022’s debut A Spectral Moon, based on a serious cycling accident that literally catapulted Barnes into disarray in November 2020. Written during an extended recovery period and far from family and friends in England, Circles is inspired by personal struggles with health, acceptance and letting go of the past. The result is a powerful ambient instrumental record inspired by Brexit, Covid and the difficult, ongoing path to Barnes’ recovery.

Sunday April 21 | 12.00 - 12.45

The Ax Effect

The Ax Effect created there own style with a stood up drumming/singing frontman! Hence, the high energy “in ya face” live performances this band brings to the stage !Taking bits and pieces of hardrock , punk and metal acts from the last three decades of the 20th century and mix it with a lumberjack style theme ! This powertrio produces intense songs accompanied by witty lyrics and a non-conformist attitude!

Sunday April 21 | 13.15 - 14.00

DJ’s

Goolse Groeve

Goolse Groeve is a local psychedelic radio show @ Lokale Omroep Goirle radiostation (TuneIn @ 105.6FM). On Wednesday they will kick off the Roadburn campsite. What better way to do that then with a 60’s 70’s live vinyl-set to honor the proto and retro heavy bands!? At Friday, Saturday and Sunday they bring a Psychedelic Snooze Set for waking up slowly. Turn over in your bed one more time and enjoy these easy psychedelic tunes.

Listen to Goolse Groeve set of April 19 2023 at the Roadburn Campsite:

Le INIT Live

To get your motor running, they will start the day with some smooth tunes (from 09:00 to 10:00). This will be followed up by a vinyl-only DJ set, to make sure that you are ready to go!
